Conquered Hyderabad in style!!!

Heya,

Just to let everyone know...We succesfully completed the Hyderabad
marathon with flying colours, the runners were .HARI, SUNDER, GEN,
BABAA and GARY.
I cannot exppress in words how great this experience has
been for me and the gang..This was my first marathon!!!!...We did
everything wrong the day before the marathon...no rest..we visted snow
world.played voley ball in the snow!!!!! basket ball..and also the
snow slides..fell down a couple of times hurt our legs and
kness..lololol. Then we visited the LIVING DEAD horror house, the
MIRROR MAZE..ate spicy chicken in the night which is always a no no
before the race day.and the best of part is we hardly slept for 4
hrs!!!..we got up at 4am..and left for the race at 4:30am..had no
water to drink..we all were thirsty ..imagine starting a 21km marathon
on a dry throat..and then it was race time!!
We started with high spirits and then eventually were running at
our own paces..being my first marathon, my aim was to just
finish!!...Hari(the superstar) and Gary had amazing pace..they had a
very strong run...I was way behind and then eventually even lost sight
of Hari and Gary. It was not at all easy...eventually you realise that
the only opponent you have is yourself..The marathon is not about
winning , its about fininshing..and in the end the path is more
important than the finish...and this was one hell of a path..lolol..4
or 5 steep inclinations..thank god we practised in National park
(borivali), There were 900 half marathoners and as i pushed and pushed
and kept overtaking so many..and just overtaking people gave me that
boost to push ahead.I broke at least 15 plateaus..ran non stop for
18kms..after that the last 3 kms were gruelling...we ended the race
running into the hyderabad cricket stadium..the last two kms run i
have to hand it over to the hyderabad police team who had
participated in the race...they motivated me and ran me through the
last 2 kms...I sprinted the last 100 mtrs..and crossed the finish
line..and if you guys have read till here...here comes the best part...
I FINISHED IN 9TH PLACE!!!!!!!
dedicated to Sudhir and Hari(my mentor).

Running In Mumbai!!

GEN -THE RUNNER GIRL

.Run when you can, Walk when you have to, Crawl if you must, Just never give up!!
                                                                                              Dean Karnazez((Runner)

Love that line. One thing's for sure running is easier than writing, especially this first blog. Three days to go for my very first half marathon and I am all charged up. I've been running for quite some time now. Practising which includes long runs in the woods every weekend from Borivali national park gate to Kaneri caves(Mumbai, INDIA) and back, sweet 14kms. At times running in the rain all drenched.

What started off as a simple challenge by fellow gym members has turned into my passion. Long distance running. The hyderabad marathon on the 30th of august 2009 will be my first attempt at a halfmarathon , 21 kms and they stIll call that HALF!!!. Want everyone to know about my experiences, unedited ,  highs and lows ,  victories and failours, lessons learnt and the people I meet along the way.

Running is such a male dominated activity. With this blog I wish to motivate females to get out and start running and let the world know we can go the distance!!! be healthy, live strong and love well.

Regards,
Gen
